Negativity. It could come in the form of a hostile work environment, a stressful home environment, or a person that is just plain mean. That energy can fill your space if you watch or discuss the world news. Emotions, in the form of anger, hate, bitterness, guilt, lack of self worth…….all can lead toward actions that are less than positive. Clearing negativity from a space, place or person can lighten and brighten the energies that surround you.
I tend to look at what others deem, “Negativity” in two ways. First, what is that person, that is spreading negativity, going through on a personal level? Where is that energy you consider negative coming from? Where was it born, how did it spread?
Instead of needing protection from it, why don’t we open our hearts and embrace it in love? Love always transmutes what is not love. Why don’t we meet it head on with positive energies, loving energies, non judgmental energies? Why do we fear this? Often, it is said, we fear what we do not know. That may be a bit too much, I admit. But it is the goal, so, with that in mind, let me share some crystals that I believe will help to alleviate the fear based negative energies.
Cleaning Negativity from a space, place or person
If you were to ask any metaphysical crystal collector what they would advise to offer protection, they would say, Black Tourmaline. Black Tourmaline is often used in clearing negativity from a person, sacred space or place. It offers protection from that which is not in your highest good. I have also been told that how Black Tourmaline accomplishes this is by collecting this less than positive energy and sending it into the universe to be cleared, cleaned and transmuted into positive energy.
Ruby in Zoisite works in much the same way, collecting any negative energies and transmutes them into positive.
It is said that Ajoite can aid in dissipating any attributes that are considered negative- anger, jealousy, hate, etc.
Amethyst can help to draw negative energies away from a person, space or place as well as clear and clean the energy, just like a crystal energy car wash!
One of my all time favorites is Jet. Jet is often used in clearing negativity and its energy, to provide protection and help you to face your fears.
There are several types of Obsidian that will do the trick as well! Black Obsidian, Snowflake Obsidian or Apache Tears will transform any negative vibration within the environment, whether it be a sacred space, a large healing center, or your back yard. They will also attract positive vibrations and remove any negative ones.
Chert is a protective stone. Like other chalcedony, Chert will stop negative vibrations, helping them to completely dissipate.
Pyrite can block/shield negative energies and increase positive energies in a space, place or person.
Another often recommended piece is Smoky Quartz. It is a negativity neutralizer.
Crystals to help clear and clean your own negativity
What if the negativity is coming from you? We have all had bad days, frustrating days, nothing goes right kinda days. It is best to be aware of this and work with crystals that can help lift the mood and find compassion for the self.
Idocrase (aka Vesuvianite) can help to clear negative thought processes, when they are coming from within. It also helps to smooth and soothe anger and angry words.
Apache Tears, a type of Obsidian, will work with you to move past any negative distress and/or drama and find compassion, patience, and empathy.
Garnet is a perfect crystal for clearing negativity. It can help to clear and clean any negative energy built up in the energy bodies/chakras.
Magnetite has been used to disperse any negative emotions and replace with positive energies. It also helps to keep the body, emotions and mind in balance.
Lastly, I truly believe that a crystal that carries a positive, loving energy should be included, something like Pink Aventurine, Pink Chalcedony, Morganite, Pink Kunzite, Pink Petalite or Rose Quartz.
Oftentimes, I will recommend a trio of crystals to cover all aspects of perceived negativity. Jet, Amethyst and Rose Quartz have been one of my favorites for many years.
Words of Wisdom from the Crystal Council
I would like to share some guidance I received this year from my guides. They can be pretty direct but that was by my request. (You see, sometimes I just don’t “get things” the first time around LOL). It may not resonate with everyone, and that is OK. But it definitely puts a new spin on the word responsibility
“It is time to walk your talk! There is endless chatter about “What we state, we create” and other such advice. It is everywhere you look! You talk about putting what you want out to the Universe (including the emotion that will bring you what we want- joy, abundance, etc) and yet, do you not understand that this goes, not only for the positive things, but for the negative as well? Why do you feel the need to “protect” yourselves? Is this not manifesting exactly what you need protecting FROM out there? Where does the negative energy get permission to come into your space from?
Why, YOU of course! It is your fear, your idea of what negativity is and how it affects you (negatively, of course) that brings it into form and function. What you state (I NEED PROTECTION FROM NEGATIVITY), you create (NEGATIVITY). For without the essence of negativity, whatever you choose to believe it is, you would not need protection, see?
We suggest that you stop insisting you need protection and instead request loving, supportive, positive energy remain in your space and in yourselves. This removes the fear based “protection” mode and enhances an energy of positivity. It creates an action of change, removing the old and replacing it with the lighter, brighter “new”.
Take responsibility for what you bring into your space! If you are someone who prefers to stayed mired in the muck, then you will probably guffaw and say “it will never work”. It is your choice.
